Columbia Art on the Bluffs will present their second annual Art Walk on Saturday, October 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. along Main Street in Columbia. The walk will cover 15 blocks along Main Street and will include artists’ booths both outside and inside thirty-two participating businesses. Over 50 participating artists from the local area will be showing and selling their wares. Works range from watercolor, photography, jewelry, pottery, glass, drawings, mixed media, oil/acrylic, pine needle baskets, ceramics and printmaking. In addition, a variety of musical artists, dancers and drama performances will take place at four different venues along Main Street throughout the event.
Added attractions include refreshments, kids’ activities, a student art show, car show and an exhibit by Dave Norman at City Hall. The Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will be able to work towards art merit badges at our Artisan Workshop hosted by the Southern Illinois Artisans Guild. The Guild will also be demonstrating various art skills such as throwing pottery, woodcarving, and weaving. A special treat for all will be the Alpacas from which thread will be spun and woven.
The historical Miller-Fiege house will be a special showcase occupied by Eric Young, one of Columbia’s own brilliant artists and decorated by a local florist, The Flower Company.
The Student Art Gallery will display student artwork from Kindergarten through 12th grade and a Peoples’ Choice Award will be selected. The Kids Art Walk will feature many art activities, entertainment and the YMCA bounce and obstacle course.
